Simulation or Role Play?
Our students are here for a very limited period – 1 week is typical. They don’t have time to learn English for purposes other than those that are crucial to them. So role plays – outside their normal sphere of competence – are of very limited use. Simulations which put them in the driving seat are very powerful learning tools. But they can put us, the trainer, well outside our comfort zone. How to cope? All will be revealed!
